I connected with Eric (Ghostmind) through our mutual friend David Fulton who suggested that I remix "She Left" (from his upcoming album "Dark Blonde Light Brown"), and I was elated when he agreed! It took a minute to decide how to approach it - I love the emotion you can hear in Eric's voice and the way he tells the story, and knew I wanted to keep the vibe of both. It finally came together with a couple grooves created by chopping up and rearranging parts of the bass line, apropos considering Eric's primary instrument is bass! Once I bridged those ideas together the rest of the instrumentation fell into place using most of the elements from the original track in some way; the percussion and guitar work especially felt great in this context. Drums were programmed with Elektron's Analog Rytm Mk1 and I added an arp from Arturia's Modular V for additional texture. Eric is an amazing musician, songwriter, and producer and it was a privilege and pleasure to remix this track - I hope you enjoy it!
